Since 1978, the Wholesalers Guild of the Central Fish Market of Mercabarna has worked towards defending the economic, legal and commercial interests of all its members, and towards making this sector more modern and dynamic.

- In 2010, the Mercabarna Central Fish Market Wholesalers’ Association, in collaboration with Mercabarna, inaugurated the Mercabarna Interactive Fish Centre (IFC), a unique museum in Europe that promotes good eating habits among children and provides recommendations from the Mediterranean diet.

- Since 2005, the Mercabarna Central Fish Market Wholesalers’ Association has collaborated with various charities, providing weekly donations of fish products.


- In 2019, it launched the #JoMenjoPeix information campaign to promote the dissemination and consumption of fish as a pillar of the Mediterranean diet.
